What is Insomnia?

Insomnia is a sleep disorder characterized by:

  • Difficulty falling asleep

  • Trouble staying asleep

  • Waking up too early

  • Poor quality or non-restorative sleep

Even if you have the opportunity to sleep, insomnia prevents you from getting the rest you need.


  Types of Insomnia

1. Acute Insomnia (Short-term)

  • Lasts a few days to a few weeks

  • Often caused by stress, jet lag, or life events (exams, job changes)

2. Chronic Insomnia

  • Occurs at least 3 nights a week for 3 months or more
